Toilet for cottages — building with your own hands and integration into landscape design (115 photos)

Any owner of a suburban area strives to recreate the most comfortable environment on it, and one of the main conditions contributing to a comfortable stay on it is the presence of a toilet.

There are quite a lot of options for country toilets, so first you need to decide which type of construction to give preference to, which place will be optimal for its placement, etc.

Having understood in more detail what types of these structures are, you can choose an option that is ideally suited for each specific case. Whether it will be placed on the street or in the house is up to the owners to decide. Let's try to understand the advantages and disadvantages of both options.

There are three types of outdoor toilets:

  • standard;
  • powder closets;
  • plastic cabins.

Standard toilet

The standard type includes classic, rustic toilet houses with a dug cesspool. The main advantages of this type are the ease of construction and installation of the structure.

The installation of such a toilet is facilitated by the fact that ready-made toilets for a country house are presented for sale on the market, in the form of wooden booths, which simply need to be put in the place reserved for them.

The main disadvantages of such options include the presence of a fetid smell and the need for periodic cleaning of the pit, or rearranging the structure to another place. However, competent actions will help to reduce these unpleasant moments to nothing.

First, try to make the cesspool wider and bigger, the preferred depth is two, two and a half meters or more. This will increase the time interval after which its cleaning will be required. And in the event that you are not at the dacha all the time, but only during the season or weekends, a spacious pit will be able to serve you without cleaning for more than 10 – 15 years.

Carefully study the instructions on how to properly make a pit for the toilet, if necessary, insert concrete rings into it to prevent the collapse and sprinkling of the earth.

The second tip will be the location of the pit behind the toilet house, the structure should be installed not in the center, but a little ahead of it.

Thirdly, the provided ventilation outlet will help to cope with unpleasant odors. The exhaust pipe is installed behind the cabin, it is laid vertically from the top of the pit, its length should be about 50-60 centimeters higher than the roof of the building. This will provide an influx of fresh air inside, while unpleasant odors will go into the pit, and from it they will already rise up the pipe.

Powder closet

The powder closet is a simple toilet in the country that does not need a cesspool. Its meaning is as follows: under the seat, a container for defecation is installed, for example, an ordinary bucket, barrel, etc. A container with wooden shavings, furnace ash, peat, etc. is necessarily located nearby.

After the defecation process is completed, the waste is filled with materials from the prepared container using a small shovel or scoop. As the tank is filled, it is emptied, the resulting mass is used as an excellent fertilizer for the crop.

These two types of street structures can differ in an original and interesting design, a toilet cubicle can be made in a wide variety of forms, painted in any colors, interestingly played with various decor.

Unusual ideas will allow you to add additional beauty and originality to the land plot. View various photos of toilets for the cottage, funny and original designed.

Plastic toilet cubicles

Plastic toilet cubicles are a structure where a waste collecting container is built in, it is filled with specific chemicals that serve to neutralize and recycle sewage, after a certain period of time it needs to be cleaned.

If using outdoor types of toilets is not included in your plans, or you are in a suburban area and in a very cold season, then consider the possibility of placing it directly in the house.

The choice can be made from the following options:

  • bucket-toilet;
  • various types of toilets;
  • portable toilet based on chemical reagents;
  • full bathroom.

Bucket

The simplest option would be to place a plastic bucket in some closed place of a country house, specially equipped with a full-fledged seat and lid.

It is advisable to put disposable bags inside the container, which must be discarded after correcting the need. However, you can just periodically wash the bucket without using liners.

Usually this option is used by summer residents in the dark or frosty days, when going to a street stall can be difficult.

Biotoilet

There is a huge variety of bio toilets on the market. The bio-toilet, which works on the basis of microorganisms, is an advanced plastic bucket that requires filling in its container with special biomass enriched with bacteria for the processing of waste products.

The peat model differs from the previous one by the need to fill it with peat from a specially equipped container, after each bowel movement. These two types of toilets are mobile, can be moved from one place to another.

An electric toilet, unlike the first two types, requires direct connection to home communication systems. Its principle of operation is based on the fact that there is a separation of waste into solid and liquid.

Solid waste is thoroughly dried and automatically moved to a special container, the liquid component simply goes into the sewer. To drain the liquid component, a conventional drain pit is sufficient, without the use of a septic tank.

Portable toilet with chemical reagents

Another improved bucket-toilet model is a portable toilet based on chemical reagents. Here the waste is processed by a specially created mixture of chemicals, which is constantly poured inside.

Bathroom

The most expensive and labor-intensive will be the installation of a bathroom directly in a country house, which will require connection to all engineering systems. In a separate, closed room, a toilet connected to the water supply network is installed. The drain is carried out in a shambo, which will need to be cleaned with the help of a sewage transport.

Do not forget that when installing such a bathroom, the country house should be heated in the cold season, because at subzero temperatures, you can freeze the water supply. However, the convenience of using such a bathroom more than compensates for all the upcoming troubles.

What to pay attention to

When selecting the optimal type of suburban toilet, you need to pay attention to the following factors:

The volume of waste products. You need to estimate how often you plan to use the toilet, how many people will visit it. It is these nuances that will determine the required volume of a pit or container for waste, and influence the choice of the best way to dispose of them.

The groundwater level. If it is high enough, then the construction of toilets with a deep shambo or septic tank will be impossible.

Financial opportunities. The amount of money allocated for a country toilet directly affects the choice of one of the options, whether it will be an inexpensive special bucket, or a modern model with an expensive septic tank.

Disposal method. Any of the options will need cleansing sooner or later. Evaluate your capabilities, because some methods of pumping waste are quite expensive.

Availability of communications. Consider the possibility of engineering communications to the toilet, if this is not possible, then you will have to discard some of the options.

Having asked the question: "How to build a toilet in the country?", soberly assess your strength, financial capabilities, compare the advantages and disadvantages of each type and choose the best option that will ideally suit your suburban area.
