Profiled fence — basic colors, design features and installation rules (95 photo ideas)

Some homeowners consider the use of a profiled sheet for fencing a plot to be frivolous. This article will tell you why this is an erroneous opinion, as well as teach you how to choose the right materials and install the fence from profiled flooring yourself.

This building material has a lot of advantages, the main of which is high speed and ease of installation. Any person can install a fence of this type.

You do not need to have a builder's qualification and have a specialized tool in your arsenal – the standard one available to every home craftsman will do.

The only difficulty will be caused by welding, but if you do not have the apparatus and the appropriate skills, you can do everything without it. Other advantages:

  • low cost of materials, affordable even with a small budget;
  • high strength and resistance to aggressive environment;
  • durability, burnout resistance;
  • aesthetic appearance;
  • the sharp upper edge of the sheet, complicating the possibility of an attacker to climb over it.

With the right approach to the choice of materials, you can get an excellent solution that will decorate and make your country plot original. Look at the photo of the profiled fence to make sure.

Planning and drawing up of the fencing scheme of the site

Before carrying out the work, it is recommended to make a schematic drawing. It is necessary to mark the place of installation of a fence made of corrugated board, taking into account the relief, the location of buildings, access roads, trees and shrubs.

Be sure to mark on the drawing where the gates will be mounted, the places of lowlands and hills, the location of the support pillars. Write down the height of the fence and the length of its straight sections.

When planning the frame, keep in mind that the profiled sheet has a high windage. The higher the fence is, the thicker the transverse logs should be.

If you decide to make a sectional structure, make the distance between the pillars a multiple of the width of 1-2 profiled sheets. The dimensions of the profiled flooring for the fence differ from each manufacturer – remember this when making calculations.

How to choose the right material

Profiled flooring is available in several types, which have their own marking. Before buying it, pay attention to the letter and the digital indicator that characterize this building material.

The letters are as follows:

"H" — the product has a large thickness and a high profile with longitudinal grooves that perform the function of stiffeners. It is used in the construction of load-bearing roofs and walls, as well as for the equipment of permanent formwork of monolithic structures.

It has increased strength, but due to the higher price, the use of such sheets of corrugated board for the fence is economically unjustified.

"C" is a specialized product for wall cladding. It is characterized by a small sheet thickness and a profile height not exceeding 21 mm, which makes it very light. It is mainly used for the construction of fences. The cheapest of the presented, but less durable compared to other types.

"NS" is an intermediate type of products. The thickness of the sheet is average – 35-40 mm. It is most often used as a loaded element in wall cladding and the construction of canopies, but in general it is quite versatile. It can be used for fencing the territory, but most of the strength characteristics of the material will remain unclaimed here.

"MP" is another universal type widely used in construction. Somewhat more expensive "C", but also more resistant to damage. An ideal option for the construction of a fence.

The digital indicator includes the thickness and width of the sheet. The length of each manufacturer is set arbitrarily.

For the fence, the optimal choice will be products with a wave height of 18-21 mm and a sheet thickness of 0.6 mm. Smaller indicators will lead to a decrease in the reliability of the design, and larger ones will lead to unnecessary costs without any advantages.

The coating of the profiled sheet is also different. Remember that galvanized products last no more than 30 years, and with a polyester coating – no more than 50. The second ones are naturally more expensive.

Any material can be used as support pillars, but the simplest, most reliable and affordable is a metal pipe. Its necessary parameters are directly dependent on the expected load.

If you want to use round pipes, their diameter should be from 60 to 100 mm, rectangular – 60x40 or 40x40 mm. Thickness – 2 mm. Fence posts with smaller parameters will not withstand wind gusts.

Transverse logs should be made of rectangular pipes with parameters 40x40 or 40x20 mm. It is better not to use wood products, since they tend to rot in the places of fasteners. This will affect the appearance of the profiled sheet and reduce its service life.

A metal corner will not work either. It will not be able to provide normal wind resistance. The thickness of the walls of the crossbars should not exceed 2 mm, otherwise it will be difficult to wrap the screws.

To assemble the fence frame for profiled flooring without welding, you will need special brackets and hardware designed for mounting. You can use rivets, bolts or drilling screws.

To fasten the profiled sheet, it is better to choose the option with a neoprene rubber gasket. It will provide a tight pressure without damaging the surface.

Calculation of materials, approximate cost

To correctly calculate the required amount of building materials and find out how much the fence will cost, do the following:

Determine the required number of sheets. To do this, divide the total length of the fence by the width of the sheet, taking into account the overlap. If the fence is sectional, subtract the total size of the pillars. Rounding up is done in a big way.

The calculation should be performed in the pieces, given the height, not by area, the required number of corrugated sheet, otherwise you can easy to make a mistake.

Determine the number of racks. In the case of a solid fence, divide its total length by the length of the distance between the posts. It should not be more than 3 meters, otherwise you will have to increase the thickness of the racks and the number of crossbars.

In the case of a sectional fence, the number of racks is determined by the number of sections. Do not forget about the corners, locations of gates and doors. The height of the posts should be equal to the height of the fence plus 30% for deepening into the soil.

Count the number of crossbars. If the fence height is less than 2 meters, two crossbars are used, each at a distance of 30 cm from the edge, more than three crossbars. To find out the total mouldings, multiply the number of rows of crossbars by the full length of the fence

The required number of brackets is determined by multiplying the number of rows of transverse logs by the number of pillars. Consider hardware, considering that the sheet is fixed every 2 waves.

Carrying out installation work

The process of installing a profiled fence consists of the following stages. At the beginning, clean the soil surface from any interfering objects. If you want the fence to last the maximum period, you need to equip the foundation for it.

For such a design, a simple ribbon foundation with a depth of 30-40 cm is suitable. Its width should be equal to or greater than the width of the support post. In the places where the columns are installed, it is necessary to make pillows so that their sole does not come into contact with the soil.

Before installing the racks, treat them with an anti-corrosion compound. At the beginning, put them in the corners and pull the rope, which then align the rest. Check everything with a level or a plumb line so that the fence does not collapse later. Now you can pour the solution.

When the concrete dries well, proceed to the installation of the lag. If the fence is solid, it is done butt–to-butt on the front of the post. If sectional – from behind with the help of a holder. There is another option – on the sides. Its advantage is the possibility of attaching profiled flooring in addition to the column itself. But this process is more labor-intensive.

And the last stage is screwing up the profile sheets. There are no difficulties here, just press them to the structure and screw them with screws. At the end, it is recommended to treat the attachment points with a special paint to prevent rust.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the installation of such a structure. But if you doubt your abilities, it is better to entrust this task to an organization that is engaged in the installation of turnkey corrugated board fences. Just select the verified one so that there will be no problems later.
